Non-contact, automatic, precise optical device for measuring punches using a confocal microscope and an optical micrometer.
Most commercial solutions incorporate a considerable number of constraints, which have an effect on the access to surfaces being measured. This solution proposes a measurement in the vertical position i.e. with one node being imposed towards the Z axis. This type of approach ensures unlimited access to measuring surfaces and points and is only possible due to the application of modern non-contact sensory systems.
Due to the application of a precise con-focal microscope in the Z axis, the light reflected from a measured object is led through the optical system to the photosensitive system and is recognised spectrally. This unique method of measurement allows precise measurement of the pathway and distance from both light-reflecting and light-diffusing surfaces.
The role of the optical micrometer is not only to measure the diameter of the punch defined by the operator but also to determine the XY position of a measured object, it’s concentricity and the height of the punch front. Minimum punch height, which is 157.00mm.
The accuracy of the optical micrometer results directly from the application of a precision linear drive with a positioning accuracy of <1 um.
