Quotient Science and MG2
Riva customer Quotient Sciences, a company focused on developing and manufacturing drugs, and Riva supplier MG2, a leading manufacturer of machines that fill capsules, have announced a strategic partnership. As part of this partnership, Quotient Sciences has purchased and installed a machine called FlexaLAB at their drug development facility in Garnet Valley, PA (USA). The FlexaLAB can fill up to 3,000 capsules per hour and is designed for research and development settings. It can fill capsules of different sizes (ranging from 0 to 5) with various substances.
At Quotient Sciences, the capsule filler has been set up to handle different types of oral medications, such as powders, pellets, tablets, and mini tablets. The FlexaLAB can also fill different medications simultaneously, allowing for multiple combinations in a single capsule. It is equipped with a Microdose unit, which can accurately fill tiny amounts of powder, including active ingredients, ranging from 0.5 mg to 6 mg. The Microdose unit can fill about 400 capsules per hour, depending on the specific product and target weight.
The capsule filling machine has also been successfully tested with sprinkle capsules, which are commonly used in the United States. These capsules are designed for use in paediatric and geriatric fields. They can be easily opened by patients and healthcare professionals, who can then sprinkle the medication on food or drinks without compromising quality, safety, or effectiveness.
In addition to the FlexaLAB machine, MG2 has provided Quotient Sciences with specialized components to handle cohesive products and various dosing containers of different heights.
This project was developed with the customer's needs in mind, following a step-by-step process that matches each phase of the development process.
The successful completion of this project was made possible by the dedicated project management teams at MG2 and MG America, a sister company with over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetic processing and packaging machines market in North America.
